Yesterday I wrote a diary stating Mike Mori at Toledo Blade has hired Ted Nugent to be the Headliner at the annual 4-day Ohio Festival "Toledo Rib Off" which is sponsored by Yark Automotive Group.
The event unfolds Aug. 7 through Aug. 10 at the Lucas County Fairgrounds in Maumee and will feature the musical stylings of controversial Detroit rocker Ted Nugent, veteran Motown band War, and a third act still to be determined.Today Media Matters reports that Mike Mori will not cancel Ted Nugent even though Ted Nugent has threatened to kill the U.S. President, former female U.S. Secretary of State and two female U.S. Senators:
President Obama,Media Matters quotes Mike Mori as saying:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton,
US Senator Dianne Feinstein and
US Senator Barbara Boxer.
"All things being equal I wouldn't bring in a guy who is aggravating people, that is not my intention ... It seems like this thing has kind of ballooned in the last couple months. I will probably think long and hard about inviting him next year.Mori goes on to say
It surprised me how many calls I got. I'm listening to the people and I probably will do something different next year if I can."What the heck does "if I can" mean?(emphasis me)
Mike Mori, the Toledo Blade and Yark Automotive Group all made the decision to hire Nugent to Headline the 4-day Festival. So what does "if I can" mean? Who above Mori is making the decision to hire Nugent?
Mori's "if I can" quote proves that hiring & refusing to cancel Ted Nugent has nothing to do with current payment obligation but everything to do with: Toledo Blade & Yark Automotive Group approving of everything Ted Nugent says including Nugent's repugnant death threats again the President & others in government.
I personally think Mike Mori should explain what "if I can" means.

The city of Longview, Texas is hosting their 2nd annual Festival in July 2014. They contracted Ted Nugent to play in late 2013. However, on March 21, 2014 the city cancelled Ted Nugent's appearance and were only obligated to pay him $16,000.00 ... which is not his full contract price.US District Court for southern district of Ohio ruled that "threatening to kill the President of the United States is akin to treason" in United States v. Stickrath, 242F.151(DCSD Ohio 1917).
In 2012 Ted Nugent threatened to kill the United States President, our female U.S Secretary of State and two female U.S. Senators. No one forced Ted Nugent to make those death threats ... he made those threats willingly, knowingly and with malice. Those threats have nothing to do with "free speech" and those threats have nothing to do with "politics" and those threats were more than just "controversial." Those death threats made by Nugent are "akin to treason."
Whether anyone likes or dislikes whoever a current, or past, President is, if that person threatens to kill the U.S. President, U.S. Secretary of State and two female U.S. Senators then they should not be rewarded by being hired to Headline a family event.
Ted Nugent is not the right feel for this kind of community event because he threatened to kill the President, US Secretary of State & two female US Senators.
By hiring Ted Nugent, you, the Toledo Blade & Yark Auto Group are giving approval of Nugent's threats to kill the President which stimulates opposition to federally elected leaders, incites the hostile and evil-minded to take the President's life and is an affront to all ration-thinking people. That is not just my opinion, that is the written sentiment from the Ohio Justices who ruled in United States v. Stickrath.
Community leaders, such as you, Toledo Blade & Yark Auto Group should cancel Ted Nugent & denounce Nugent because of the death threats he made so as to show this community that threatening to kill the President, Secretary of State and two female US Senators is not acceptable and will not be rewarded nor tolerated.
You claim you do not agree with what Ted Nugent says, yet your actions prove different. The actions you took in 2013 show you do agree with Ted Nugent's death threats of 2012 ... your 2013 actions show you do agree that it is acceptable to threaten to kill the U.S. President. In 2012 Ted Nugent chose to make threats, and you, Toledo Blade & Yark Auto chose to approve and accept Nugent's threats when you all agreed to sign him in 2013.
Threatening to kill the President is wrong for this community. Hiring Headliners who threatened to kill the President is wrong for this community. Your, Toledo Blades'& Yark Auto Group's actions are wrong for this community. Yark Auto & Toledo Blade accepting and approving to hire a Headliner who threatened to kill the President is wrong for this community.
My question is this, does the entire Toledo Blade Executive Administrators and the entire family of Yark Auto Group approve of Nugent's threats to kill the President or is it just of few of you all?
You, Toledo Blade & Yark Auto still have an opportunity to do the right thing which is to cancel Nugent and denounce the death threats Nugent willingly made ... if you all do not cancel Ted Nugent's appearance then you all are showing that yes, you all do approve of people threatening to kill the President. It is time you, Toledo Blade & Yark Auto Group show civic pride and cancel Ted Nugent from the 4-day family Festival.
