McConnell has let people in his own state starve the entire 35years he’s been in office so he certainly doesn’t care that Trump/McConnell shutdown causes 800,000+ American families face hunger and homelessness.
Last summer, June 12, 2018, McClatchy news reported that Mitch McConnell has been aware that for the entire 35 years he’s been in office, his home state, Kentucky, has had one of the highest poverty rates in USA & Mitch admits he’s never done a thing to eliminate it or slow it down.
Kentucky continues to lag behind the national average in health care and median income. Its teachers spent much of the spring decrying low education funding and changes to their pensions. Poverty remains a persistent challenge in Kentucky, with the rates in some Eastern Kentucky counties among the highest in the country.
McConnell told the Lexington Herald-Leader in a recent interview that there's zero doubt the state is better off with him at the helm.
"You're talking about persistent problems that we've had for decades,"McConnell said of the state's troubles. "A fair question to ask would be 'Would we better off without having the Republican leader of the Senate?' and the answer is clearly, 'No.'"
"All 100 senators may have one vote," McConnell explained, "but they’re not all equal. Kentucky benefits from having one of its own setting the agenda for the country."
Let that sink in: McConnell is saying: yeah, it’s true, Kentucky has had a poverty rate that has been “persistently high poverty rate for decades,’ the entire 35 years I’ve been in office. But hey, those pesky poverty facts are meaningless, I don’t care about the poors … cuz you know, the only important thing is having a Republican in office, not trying to help the poors get out of their poverty.
Given the fact that Kentucky has had a poverty rate that has been “persistently high poverty rate for decades”— the entire 35 years Mitch has in office — Mitch is wrong, Kentucky is not better off with a “Republican” Mitch McConnell in the Senate.
And stats in healthcare, education, income, and poverty prove that Kentucky has not benefited one bit from “having one of its own setting the agenda for the country."
If Mitch McConnell will let the families in his own state starve; then I can absolutely guarantee you that Mitch McConnell does not give one damn that the Trump/McConnell shutdown is causing 800,000+ American families face hunger and homelessness.
He. Does. Not. Give. A. Phuck.
There is only one reason Mitch McConnell is intentionally forcing over 800,000 American families to face hunger & homelessness: McConnell & Trump are trying to force Americans to bailout and pay for Trump’s $25B political campaign wall lie. Period.
Bailout and pay for Trump’s $25B political campaign wall lie is literally the only reason for the Trump/McConnell shutdown.
But, all that said, I urge all Kentuckians to flood Mitch McConnell’s office with calls and email him and tell him:
“OPEN government with NO funds for Trump’s $25B Political Campaign Wall lie”

Americans will not & should not BAILOUT Trump’s $25B Political Campaign Wall lie
Trump needs to call Mexico if he wants “wall money.”
